Building on the success of the past Team Canada Atlantic Missions to New England, the Prime Minister and the four Atlantic Premiers led a business delegation of 67 Atlantic Canadian companies to Atlanta, Georgia May 14-16, 2001 to explore trade and investment opportunities. The Team Canada Atlantic program was expanded to target the Southeast United States, as this has been the fastest growing region in the United States over the past six years.
Approximately 250 meetings were held between companies in Atlantic Canada and firms in the greater Atlanta region. Over the next two years, companies are projecting sales of $34.5 million and the creation of 249 new jobs. The post mission survey also indicated that 64 new agents, distributors and partners were established. Eighty-nine percent of the participants intend to return to Atlanta to pursue the market.
